Everyone’s needs are different. Second Nature understands that families have various childcare resources available to them and may only need assistance with certain parts of their hiring process. We offer the option for you to decide which individual services you would like from our menu and which do not suit your needs. Please note our mandatory background investigative services as this service is the baseline upon which we build our placement packages.

$800.00 full service, “Peace of Mind” Package includes the following services:

Finder’s fee, in- depth application and intensive interview, social security trace, county, state, and Federal criminal investigation, sexual offender registry check, specially designated nationals, drug screening, driving record search, prior employment verification and interviews, reference verification and in- depth interviews, professional skills assessment, state driving record search, CPR certification verification or provision, and specialized relocation services.

Service Descriptions

Finder’s Fee: Second Nature has several venues and networks for finding qualified caregivers. This fee covers all advertising costs as well as access to our extensive networks.

In-depth application and intensive interview: Second Nature meets personally with all applicants over a 2 hour period to conduct a thorough 40 question interview battery.

Mandatory background investigative services: Due to principal, Second Nature does not compromise or concede any of the mandatory background investigations. This service is a mandatory requisite for our referrals. All background information is gathered from reliable sources and reported in full compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Drivers Privacy Protection Act, and all other applicable federal and state statutes.

Background Investigation Services include:
Social Security Number Confirmation Traces provide an independent verification of an individual’s Social Security Number. Previously undisclosed addresses listed on the trace report may be checked for criminal record histories.

Federal, State, and County Criminal Record Searches are conducted at the each level for all of the applicant‘s counties and states of residence. Felony and related misdemeanor conviction information is retrieved from public record sources. Final adjudication of criminal cases is provided.

Sexual Offender Registry Checks are done through a National Database Search. In the cases where a state is not a contributor to the database, (47 out of 50 contribute to the NDB) the state or specific repository that houses the records is searched. This is done to be inclusive of any incidents that may not have occurred in an applicant‘s county of residence.

Specially Designated Nationals are obtained through U.S. Department of the Treasury check and are designed to screen candidates against the government‘s Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List.

Drug Screening- A complete a 5-panel drug screen is conducted locally. Individual results are reported to a designated Medical Review Officer (MRO) or authorized representative. Results are shown for each drug group using the terminology “positive“ or “negative.”

Not Included in Mandatory Background Services
Prior Employment Verification and interviews are completed by telephone, fax, and mail. Interviews are conducted with human resources and supervisors to verify dates of employment, title and responsibilities, reason for leaving, eligibility for rehire, and applicable aptitude/ attitude attributes and performance evaluations.

Reference Verification and In-Depth Interviews are probing, but respectful interviews: conducted by telephone, fax, and mail with personal and child care references to gage observed experience and interactions in caregiving situations.

Professional Childcare Skills Assessments: a battery of forty questions designed to assess knowledge and experience in childcare and child development.

State Driving Record Searches: offer information on all traffic-related offenses and whether a license is valid, suspended, or revoked.

License and Certification Verification: Professional licenses and certifications granted by a governmental entity are verified through appropriate channels. Information reported includes date of issue, date of expiration and disciplinary action (if applicable).

Credit Reports for Employment Purposes are obtained through a reliable consumer reporting agency to provide a profile of the subject's financial history for the past seven years.

CPR Certification: CPR certification is either verified or provided.

Specialized Relocation Services: Second Nature understands the often overwhelming process of making childcare decisions during relocation. We are proud to offer our knowledge of the local landscape to allow you peace of mind to enjoy transition.

Special Needs Placement Services Available: Due to their sensitive and specific nature, this service is a process of discussion and listening and understanding. Special needs placement fees can range between $100.00 and $300.00.

Payroll and Benefits Services are available Second Nature has engaged the dedicated assistance of a local CPA firm to process payroll and to establish benefits packages if a family should choose. Fees for this service require specific details about terms of employment and gross salary.
